"Courageous care partners recharge with self-care, striving for peaceful pinnacles
in patience, persistence, and positive
changes, knowing when to conquer and when to comfort."

It's the best time of the year!

Still holding on to the way it has always been done. Making those same New Year’s Resolutions? As Dr. Phil, Phil McGraw, PhD often asks his guests this ubiquitous question: “How’s that working for you?”

Dr. Phil thinks this question stems from his childhood understanding that the end game for him was survival, always seeking out solutions that were practical, omitting the lofty dreams one might have as a child. “When I grow up . . .”

In his nuclear family, he was told "You can't eat intentions, only results," and Dr. Phil opted to eat. As he looked back on his rearing, he thinks that his question “How’s that working for you?” is key to reaching the underlying concern: is what you have decided to do in your best interest? Are you getting the results you want or need? Living your best life is living a life filled with choices: you get to choose what is in your best interest. But what happens if you made a mistake and need to regroup? Admitting a mistake takes courage and apologizing takes even more but, if you are not right, then it’s best to make amends and move on and move out of your comfort zone, “How’s that working for you?”

Life Lesson: “Instead of being ashamed of what you’ve been through, be proud of what you have overcome!” recommends Dr. Phil and look forward to a new year full of joy, enrichment, and best of all – new life lessons.
