“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom,” wrote Marcel Proust (1871-1922), a French novelist, critic, and essayist who began writing À la recherche du temps perdu (Remembrance of Things Past) when he was thirty-eight years old. The essence of Proust’s belief is that the banal life we live is especially important because it is rich with remembered experiences.
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
