For me, knitting is a release. The Need(le) to Knit!

I have summarized Michella Obama’s perspective on knitting:

“Every time I tell people how much I love to knit; they seem so surprised! For me, knitting is a release. It lets my hands lead the way as my mind trails behind. It’s the idea that narrowing your focus into a small, seemingly insignificant task can remind us of our own agency. It shows us our own ability to build, create, and succeed. I truly believe that when you know you are capable of small tasks, it makes the bigger ones feel easier. In this case, every small stitch builds into a bigger purpose.”

Life Lesson 1: Always make time for things that bring you solace no matter your age. “When you’ve nothing to give but the love within your heart, a gentle touch is everything.” -Athey Thompson

Life Lesson 2: "Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame but to experience becoming, to find out what’s inside of you, to make your soul grow.” -Kurt Vonnegut

Note to self: “Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”

– St. Francis of Assisi
