Treasure Those Moments
October 4, 2005 – the first Tuesday of that month was my first time attending the knitting guild meeting in San Diego. It was also the first time I heard my voice ricochet all over the large room we were in and the first time hearing my voice on a microphone when asked to introduce myself as a first-time guest. We had moved to San Diego a few months earlier, and I was looking for such a group to share my passion with. I even remember what I was wearing; yes, it was that transformative. After the meeting, a beautifully dressed woman approached me, introduced herself, and a warm, inviting conversation followed when we assured each other that we would get together. My friendship with Susan has meandered along many wonderful paths enhancing my life in a multitude of ways.
We talked about our previous jobs, and I shared that I returned to the teaching world following my years as a stay-at-home mother, but embarking on the professional world posed a problem: what to wear. My “uniform” of a top and jeans would not cut it. To figure this out, I borrowed the book Petite Style, authored by Susan Ludwig from our local library. Why I didn’t buy the book I don’t know – to this day I can tell you exactly where it’s located on the library shelf! And then, with her beautiful smile, Susan told me that she was that Susan Ludwig! It made total sense! She is the epitome of the professionally and beautifully dressed petite woman both inside and out.
My life was transformed on that day, October 4, 2005.
Think about it – a self-care ritual that will bring a warmth to your heart by remembering a sweet remarkable moment in your life filled with a sweet remarkable friend. Treasure those moments.
Postscript: It is particularly special when a friend of yours can reciprocate with the same depth of appreciation and love.
